Pour cette proposition chez robert, Jean Denant construit un site qui envahi l'ensemble du territoire d'exposition. L’artiste se positionne en tant que chef d'un projet relevant à la fois de l’architecture, du design d'objets et des arts visuels.
Conçu avec précision et savoir-faire, le projet donne à voir un espace relevant du monde ouvrier et de l’univers du travail. La dimension poétique de cette zone en chantier se révèle par son statut non défini, à la fois lieu abandonné et espace en devenir.
La construction de l’œuvre par superposition successive de couches de matière renvoie inévitablement aux couches temporelles d’un lieu en constante évolution. Si on peut découvrir dans l’espace un engin de chantier et des outils dispersés au sol, aucune présence humaine n’est visible, sauf celle suggérée par la présence de ces objets inventés par l’Homme. Si Jean Denant construit ici un monde dominé par la machine, et interroge l’omniprésence de la technologie dans notre société, il ne fait aucun doute que la maitrise de la technique par l’homme est aussi source de création artistique.
À la fois lieu en émergence et site archéologique dévoilé par strates, l’artiste suggère un « entre-deux » et nous place dans un monde confronté à la dualité: le travail manuel face au développement de la technologie, le milieu ouvrier face au secteur industriel, l’histoire face à l’avenir.

For this proposition in the space, Chez-Robert, Jean Denant invades the entire exhibition space. Here, the artist sees himself as a developer whose concerns include the architecture, the design of objects and the visual aspect.
Conceived with precision and know-how, the project creates a space revealing the workers world and universe of creation. The poetic dimension of this space comes about through it’s non defined status, somewhere between abandonment and becoming.
The work is made up of the superimposition of material creating successive layers which show the evolution of the site. While one can find a forklift and tools, there is no visible human presence other than that suggested by the objects invented by man. Even if, Jean Denant has built a world dominated by machines which questions the omnipresence of technology in our society, he doesn’t doubt that man’s mastery of technique is the source of creation. The site is both in the process of becoming and the cross sections of an archeological dig, the artists proposition is somewhere in between and placing us in this duality: of manual labour and technological development, of the workers and the industrial sector, of history and the future.
