Posons l’hypothèse que l’enjeu de l’art consiste à poser devant son temps un dispositif en miroir, visant à construire un élan réflexif au sein de la communauté des regards. Une machine, non pas pour voir, mais pour concevoir le présent.
Ce tour de force d’efficacité et de légèreté est à l’œuvre dans la rencontre entre l’espace d’exposition paradoxal « chez-robert » et les propositions de B. Duport. Ici, un dispositif révèle un temps de l’urgence, dans lequel seul le très local et le très éphémère dégagent du sens. Le poids du réalisme a cédé la place à la dimension opératoire du seul projet. Le temps et l’espace de l’œuvre ont abandonné leur gravité, au point d’appartenir à une sorte de dimension prospective parallèle. Toutefois, ce champ latéral de l’activité n’est en aucun cas un rêve immatériel. Toute la stratégie de B. Duport consiste à jouer avec le visiteur insaisissable de « chez-robert », qui pilote depuis « chez lui » son propre parcours sur cette scène très concrète de l’art. Parole à prendre, logique lumineuse à deviner, interrogation d’échelle, ambivalence du clôt et de l’ouvert et statut problématique du maître des lieux, autant d’énigmes soulevées qui mettent en chantier un changement de modèle pour le regard contemporain.

Let's assume that art's issue consists in setting a mirror device in front of its time, in order to create a reflexive impulse within the gazing community. A machine, not to see, but rather to conceive the present.
This amazing feat of efficiency and lightness is at work in the meeting between the paradoxical exhibition space of the gallery "chez-robert" and B. Duport's propositions. Here, a device reveals a time of urgency in which only the very local and the very ephemeral bring out meaning. The weight of realism has given place to the operating dimension of the sole project. The work's time and space have abandoned their gravity, to the point of belonging to a kind of parallel future dimension. However, this lateral field of the activity is by no means an immaterial dream. All of B. Duport's strategy consists in playing with the elusive visitor of the gallery "chez robert " who is, from "home", driving his own course on this very concrete art scene. Speech to be dared, luminous logic to be guessed, scales to be questioned, ambivalence between the status of the (non) building and that of its (non) owner, these are some of the enigmas raised which start a change in pattern for the contemporary way of looking.
